Precision Optical’s metrology
capabilities are its foundation. It is a common phrase
in the optical industry “If you can’t measure
it, you can’t make it”. Precision Optical utilizes
its state of the art metrology to verify sub arc second angles,
less than 1 micron in optical path difference, flatness and
TWE of λ/40, transmission and reflectance for both
S and P polarization at angles of 0 – 70º AOI.
Every measuring device is rigorously maintained and calibrated
per ISO 9001:2000. See below for a general list of metrology

Precision Optical’s interferometry capabilities
utilize 4D, WYKO, ZYGO, and ESDI technologies. We have
the ability to measure nearly any type of optical component,
specializing in tight angle-toleranced prisms and cornercubes.
Our range of sizes we can measure vary from 5mm – 300mm.
We can supply interferogram printouts, as well as datasets
on disk or via e-mail in the following formats: 4D (.h5),
Wyko/Veeco (.opd), Opticode (.map), Metropro (.dat), CODE
V (.int) or ESD, HDF4 (.HDF).

Our spectrophotometers include a Perkin-Elmer
900 with PELA-1030 10° – 70° variable reflectance
attachment and a Perkin-Elmer 950 with Universal Reflectance
Attachment (URA), and General Purpose Optical Bench (GPOB).
Both instruments and our accessories (which are interchangeable
on both machines) give us the ability to cross-check machines,
and virtually perform any type of transmission or reflectance
measurement from 200nm – 3200nm with polarization capabilities.

With Precision Optical’s interferometers,
auotocollimators and alignment telescopes we routinely manufacture
components and assemblies with sub arc second accuracy. Our
OGP Avant-Zip CMM with Measuremind 3D and multisensor capabilities
allows for mechanical measurement accuracy of < 2.5microns
with minimal handling.

All of Precision Optical’s mechanical,
interferometric and spectral testing is performed in a stabilized
and regulated temperature of 70 +/- 5 deg and humidity 40
+/- 10% RH. We also perform environmental testing for the
integrity of our optical coatings and assemblies.
